Who is Hannes Ziegler?

I am an "addict" to the xBase programming language. I had my first contact with this fabulous programming language with dBase, soon after which I've got in contact with Clipper, the very first xBase compiler. Clipper conquered me on DOS, a 16-bit operating system.

It was the same year when I experienced both, the publication of my book on "Object oriented programming with Clipper", and getting in contact with the Alaska Software project. Alaska Software wanted to reproduce Clipper for 32-bit operatings systems. A great idea!

As a result, I am the very first alpha-tester of the Alaska Software 32-bit Clipper compiler, which dates back to 1994. I have written the entire documentation for this compiler starting with the first OS/2 version up to the 1.82 Windows version (Xbase/2 and Xbase++).

I am familiar with the Clipper and Xbase++ flavour of the xBase language since day One. I know what it means to write software documentation in two languages (English and German) and how to keep documentation up to date with ongoing changes of new software releases (Alaska Xbase 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.82, that's nine software releases).

After I discontinued my documentation work with Alaska Xbase, I documented xHarbour, an open source Clipper compiler.
